All in the family
Family owned & operated
Herbafarm is an innovative agricultural enterprise that aims to perfect the ecologial cultivation of Rosa canina and to fully process all of its parts, providing the highest quality rosehip flesh, cold pressed seed oil and ground seed flour for the European food industry.
Herbafarm, a company all about rosehips
The story of the first dedicated rosehip plantation in Hungary started in 2016, when 150 acres of rosa canina was put into the ground. The area for growing this ancient plant was chosen carefuly: beautiful hillside north of Budapest, pleasantly far away from busy civilization, and above a water resevoir to allow quality irrigation.
Since our founding in 2016, the bio plantation went through continuous development, while the plant processing was gradually expanded to allow the processing of all the parts of rosehip from its fruit to its seeds.
- Year 2020 - first harvest
- + 150 ha rosehip orchard
- Tons of rosehip every year
Inspired by nature
Guided by the quiet intelligence of nature, we cultivate and craft our products with a deep respect for the land. Every step of our work is shaped by natural rhythms, gentle methods, and a commitment to preserving the purity of what the earth offers. Our approach isn’t just sustainable — it’s a reflection of how nature itself grows, heals, and renews.
Organic farming System
With organic rosehip cultivation, we proudly adhere to numerous quality criteria as a certified eco-farming operation. For nearly a decade, we’ve refined our methods and created our own unique ecological system that fits perfectly with our local climate, environment, and cultural landscape.
This sustainable approach not only protects nature but also ensures top-tier quality and health benefits. In short, we’ve developed a method that’s truly in harmony with the environment and the specific needs of our region.
The life is our fundament
In our organic cultivation, we prioritize protecting the birds and various local wildlife around our fields, from different bird species to essential pollinators. For nearly a decade, we’ve cultivated not just crops but a thriving eco-system that safeguards these creatures.
Our methods are designed to harmonize with the habitat, ensuring that pollinators and local bird populations flourish alongside our crops. In short, we’ve developed a sustainable approach that nurtures the environment and all its winged and buzzing inhabitants.
Green technologies
In our processing methods, we always work at low temperatures to ensure that the nutritional values of the rosehips remain as intact as possible. For us, it’s essential that every step of the way preserves the inherent goodness of the fruit. In short, we take great care to keep all the beneficial qualities of the rosehips intact during processing by maintaining gentle, low-heat conditions.

Founder, owner and engine of this unique, innovative plantation.
dr. peter rybaltovszki
dr. Péter Rybaltovszki , founder of Herbafarm Ltd., spent years researching how to grow premium-quality rosehips on Hungarian soil. In 2017, he made his dream a reality: he established a 50-hectare, later 100-hectare organic rosehip plantation on the outskirts of Leányvár – entirely without chemicals.
The first rosehip harvest could be collected only in the third year after planting, meaning during the 2020 and 2021 seasons. Until then, the project required continuous investment without generating any income. Maintaining the plantation demanded exceptional attention, as there is still no well-established, widely used technology for rosehip cultivation.
